EAAM-ALL List Policy and Common Questions
1. What is the EAAM-All list?
The EAAM-All list is a free-format, unmoderated e-mail discussion list for EAAM members. The mailing list is set up using the mailing list services of Yahoo Groups.
You don't need to have an account at yahoogroups.com to be able to participate in the discussion. However, if you want to make use of the extended features of the list, such as uploading and downloading files or retrieving earlier messages, you need to have a Yahoo account. Setting up this account is free.
For more information about Yahoo Groups in general visit the web site at: http://groups.yahoo.com/. You can access the help pages directly at: http://help.yahoo.com/help/groups/ You can also get a help summary by sending an e-mail message to eaam-all-help@yahoogroups.com.
The mailing list is set up as a hidden list. You cannot find the list by searching the Yahoo directory. Only listmembers can post messages to the list.
2. Who can join this list?
The EAAM-All list is open for all EAAM members (full, associate, student, institutional and honorary members). You have to be a paid-up member. Upon joining the list, your membership status will be verified with the Secretary. If your EAAM membership is terminated, you will be removed from the list.
3. What types of messages are appropriate?
The list is set up as a communication tool for EAAM members, so any information that is relevant to other EAAM members can be posted to the list. Please refrain from using the list to forward jokes and (often bogus) virus warnings.
There are currently no restrictions on the message format, but keep in mind that the messages will be received by people using wide variety of e-mail programs. It is adviced to sent plain-text messages only (no Rich Text or HTML).
Attachments are allowed, but if you want to share documents or images, you are adviced to upload them to the group directory instead. Many people have limitations on their e-mail box size and may have to retrieve their mail over slow phone lines, so use attachments with great care. Note that attachments are not stored in the EAAM-All group message area (see 4).
Never send programs or scripts as attachment, since they may carry viruses. As a courtesy to the other list members, always include your name and e-mail address in the message.
4. How can I find messages and files on the web?
The EAAM-All groups directory at Yahoo Groups is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eaam-all You need a Yahoo Groups account to be able to access the group features and you need to be an EAAM-All list member.
5. How do I post messages to the list?
To send a message to the list, simply send an e-mail to: eaam-all@yahoogroups.com
6. How do I reply to individual subscribers?
If you reply to a message from the list, the message will automatically be distributed to the list. If you wish to reply to the sender of the message only, create a new message and send it to the e-mail address of the sender (this should be included in the message).
7. How do I subscribe/unsubscribe?
Because the list membership is restricted, automated subscription and removal is not possible. To (re)subscribe or unsubscribe, send a request to the list owner at: eaam-all-owner@yahoogroups.com.
If you do not want to receive mail from the EAAM-All list for some time, but would still like to remain a member of the list (so that you can check the messages and files areas on the web) you can disable mail by sending a message to: eaam-all-nomail@yahoogroups.com.
To enable your mail again, send a message to: eaam-all-normal@yahoogroups.com.
If you have a Yahoo Groups account, you can also enable and disable mail features in your personal preferences area.
8. How can I view earlier messages?
All messages that have been sent to the list are stored in the messages are of the EAAM-All group area. If you have a Yahoo groups account and are a member of EAAM-All, you can go to that area and view earlier messages and retrieve files from the files area. Note that file attachment to mail messages are not saved.
9. My message was not posted. How is that possible?
Only messages from list subscribers are posted on the list. Make sure that you only send messages to the list using the e-mail address with which you are subscribed to the list. If your e-mail address changes, please notify the list owner at: eaam-all-owner@yahoogroups.com.
