Species Conservation

By In Species Conservation On September 16, 2015

Zoological parks are important and reliable partners in conservation.  Knowledge, skills and information gained from scientific research, rescue, rehabilitation and reproduction ex situ benefit the animals in human care but also contribute to the conservation of wild populations.  Educational programmes at zoos result in heightened public awareness and motivation to contribution to conservation efforts, including habitat protection and environmental stewardship.  Funds generated by visits to local zoos are critical to support in situ conservation activities.
